Regular events, live music, outdoor activities and year-round fun in Wellen Park, Florida.
One of the things we love most about Wellen Park is how easy it is to find something fun to do. The Wellen Park events calendar has everything from live music and farmers markets to fitness classes, family activities and big seasonal celebrations.
And that is just what is happening in Downtown Wellen!
Many of the individual communities have their own private events for residents too. Then you have the towns of Venice, Englewood and Sarasota nearby, opening up even more options for festivals, concerts, art shows, food events and family days out.
Maybe your idea of fun is dancing under the Heritage Tree in Downtown Wellen Park. Maybe it is wandering around a local market, cheering on the Atlanta Braves or joining your neighbors for a pool party. Either way, there is usually SOMETHING happening nearby.
Still getting to know the area? Our complete guide to Wellen Park, Florida will give you the big-picture tour first.
Some places have a couple of festivals each year and call it an events calendar. Wellen Park takes a different approach.
There are major celebrations that draw a crowd, but there are also smaller activities happening during an ordinary week. You might head to Downtown Wellen Park for a fitness class in the morning, browse the farmers market on the weekend or meet friends for dinner while live music plays nearby.
That is what makes events feel like a genuine part of life in Wellen Park and not just something brought out a few times a year for visitors.
They also make it MUCH easier to meet people when you are new to the area. Showing up to a walking group, exercise class, market or neighborhood social is a lot less awkward than standing in your driveway and hoping a future best friend happens to wander past!
Downtown Wellen Park is the main hub for public events in Wellen Park. Between the lakefront, event lawn, Heritage Tree and Solis Hall, there are plenty of places to hold everything from a morning exercise class to a big community celebration.
The calendar regularly includes things like:
Do not plan your entire week around this list, though! Days, times and activities can change, so check the official Wellen Park events calendar before heading out.
One of the best things about Downtown Wellen events is that you can make a whole outing of them. Browse the market, walk around the lake, let the kids burn off some energy, grab lunch or stay for dinner and music. You don’t need to attend one big organized event to enjoy the atmosphere.
Want to see what one of these evenings actually feels like? Come along with us to a Friday night concert in Downtown Wellen and get a feel for the music, setting and atmosphere.
If having all of this close by is important to you, location matters. Some Wellen Park communities offer much easier walking, biking or golf-cart access to Downtown Wellen than others. Our Wellen Park communities guide will help you see where each neighborhood is located so you can choose your proximity to all the action!

Alongside the weekly and monthly activities, Wellen Park hosts larger seasonal and signature events throughout the year.
The lineup changes, but returning favorites have included Oktoberfest, the Wellen Park Wine Festival, family Halloween celebrations, holiday events, races, concerts, fireworks and special markets. Some are free, while others require tickets or advance registration.
These are the days when Downtown Wellen really comes alive. You will see families setting up chairs on the lawn, friends meeting for food and drinks, children joining themed activities and plenty of people arriving by golf cart.
Dates and details can change from one year to the next, so always check the official calendar of Wellen Park events for confirmed times, ticket information, weather updates and registration requirements.

Of course, we cannot talk about events in Wellen Park without mentioning CoolToday Park!
It is the spring-training home of the Atlanta Braves, so baseball season brings a completely different buzz to this part of Wellen Park. Even if you are not a die-hard baseball fan, game days are a lot of fun. And yes, residents of some nearby neighborhoods can arrive by golf cart, which feels VERY Florida!
The stadium also hosts special events and community activities at different points in the year, so it is worth checking what is happening outside the baseball schedule too. These events have included the popular Grilled Cheese Festival as well as concerts & even fireworks on holidays.
We took Hana along to one of CoolToday Park’s dog-friendly baseball events, which gives you a fun look at the stadium atmosphere, and proves there can be a lot more happening here than a standard spring-training game!
If you want to know what the spring-training experience is actually like, read our guide to Atlanta Braves Spring Training at CoolToday Park.
One thing to keep in mind is that the public events in Downtown Wellen are only ONE layer of the social life here.
Almost every Wellen Park neighborhood organizes their own private events and activities for their own residents. These can include fitness classes, holiday parties, food-truck nights, poolside socials, game nights, clubs, workshops, children’s activities, sports leagues and group outings.
But this is a BIG one: the calendars are not the same everywhere.

A family-oriented neighborhood with a playground and event lawn, such as Grand Palm, may plan activities around children, school holidays and family celebrations. An active-adult community such as Brightmore may focus more heavily on clubs, fitness, hobbies, social gatherings and resident outings. A golf community, such as Wellen Park Golf & Country Club or Sarasota National, may build much of its calendar around tournaments, member events and clubhouse dining.
Even two communities with similar amenities can feel completely different depending on the residents and vibe of the community. So if you visit a community with us on a tour for either new construction or resale homes, be sure to grab a copy of their events & activity guide so you can get a feel for the types of activities they offer.
That is why we always tell buyers to look beyond the pool and clubhouse. Ask to see a recent lifestyle calendar. Find out whether activities are included in the HOA fee, whether some cost extra, how quickly popular events fill up and whether guests can attend.
Most importantly, be honest about what you will actually use. A packed social calendar is a huge perk if you want to meet people and stay busy. But if you prefer peace, privacy and doing your own thing, there is no point choosing the busiest community simply because its calendar looks impressive.
You can compare the facilities and lifestyle offerings across the area in our Wellen Park amenities guide.

Living in Wellen Park also puts you within an easy drive of several nearby southwest Florida towns, each with its own personality and event calendar.

Historic Downtown Venice is one of our go-to spots for an easy local outing. It regularly hosts concerts in Centennial Park, farmers markets, sidewalk sales, art and craft festivals, holiday activities and community celebrations.
Some of the larger annual events have included the Venice Sharks Tooth Festival, Sun Fiesta, Christmas in July, downtown art festivals, the Halloween Strut and the Venice Christmas Boat Parade. Englewood has a more laid-back, Old Florida feel, and many of its events reflect that local community spirit.

Dearborn Street and the surrounding area host live entertainment, markets, art shows, food events, family activities and fundraisers throughout the year. Englewood Pioneer Days is a longtime local tradition, while annual art festivals bring artists, food and visitors into the heart of town.

Major annual highlights often include the Sarasota Film Festival, Sarasota Jazz Festival, Savor Sarasota and seasonal events at local attractions. Just remember that Sarasota is a larger area, so always check the exact venue (and the drive) before assuming something is right around the corner.
The official Visit Sarasota events and festivals calendar lets you search by date and type of event.
Our guide to fun things to do in Sarasota covers plenty of attractions and activities that do not depend on one particular event date, and many of the listed venues host regular day events, seasonal events, and more.
The big festivals are not your only option either. Many of the places featured in our guide to Sarasota breweries host live music, trivia and other entertainment. PopStroke Sarasota has also hosted weekly contests, tournaments and holiday activities alongside its mini golf.
